If one of those rotations is cancelled, you may also be responsible for finding a replacement yourself.

Cancellations are not common, and while we coordinate your clinical rotations, we cannot control every scheduling decision made by hospitals, clinical sites, or preceptors. When a cancellation does occur, our priority is to find an alternative placement that keeps you in the same timeframe and minimizes disruption to your clinical training. 

The process may be different when a cancellation or delay is caused by the student. In those circumstances, the student may need to sit out a rotation block before continuing.

What If an Elective Rotation Is Cancelled?

Trinity also works to help students when an elective is cancelled. In these situations, a clerkship administrator will try to find a comparable elective for the student to complete. However, there is an important distinction with away electives. Because these electives take place outside Trinity’s regular clinical arrangements, we have less control over availability and scheduling if a placement falls through.
