Grants and Scholarships for Med School
Whether through superior academic achievement, the ability to balance schoolwork with community service, or a commitment to serving your country, Trinity recognizes incoming MD students’ efforts with merit-based scholarships, grants, and awards.
Scholarships are available for new MD1 students; transfer applicants should consult with their admissions counselor for available grant opportunities. Please note that the number of scholarships awarded may be limited, so we encourage you to apply early.
Selection will be based on academic performance, letters of reference, community service, and other relevant criteria submitted during the admissions process or as requested by the admissions office. MCAT scores will be considered if applicable.
Merit-Based Scholarships for MD Students
The Award for Excellence is a $1,000 award to any Trinity student who scores 244 or above on the USMLE Step 2 CK on the first attempt. Must uphold school policies. Applies to all students regardless of citizenship. Transfers are also eligible.
Only available for Step 2 CK. Scholarships are offered to applicants when they have been granted admission to the MD program and have met the criteria for eligibility as determined by the Scholarship Committee or admissions team. All scholarships require recipients to maintain the specified GPA, successfully complete the admission requirements, and honor school policies.
Students may qualify for this merit-based scholarship based on academic and personal achievement. This scholarship is available for new MD students starting May 2026 or later.
Scholarship Amounts:
- $1,200 per term (for up to 10 terms)
Eligibility & Conditions: Eligibility requires a minimum grade of P in each term. Remediation courses or terms are not eligible for funding. However, students who remediate and return to satisfactory academic standing will have the scholarship reinstated for subsequent terms.
Important Notes:
Scholarship Combinations: Students with the EAS may combine their scholarship with the Trinity Award for Excellence and applicable grants.
Vincentian scholarships cannot be combined with the Excellence in Action scholarships. However, Vincentian scholarship recipients may still qualify for the Trinity Award for Excellence and certain partial grants.

- To be eligible, accepted students must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 or higher.
- Retention requirements – A minimum grade of P in each term.

All students who are awarded the Physician’s, Dean’s, or President’s Scholarship and who have grades of P or higher may be invited to compete for an additional merit scholarship level, the Chairman’s Scholarship, elevating their current scholarship to an award level of $50,000. One award will be made per academic year.
- Applicants will complete a written response to a topic determined by the Chairman. The scholarship committee will select the award recipient.
- Award will reduce tuition by $5,000 each term of the ten-term MD program.
- Students must maintain a minimum grade of P in each term.
The Vincentian Scholarship is awarded to an eligible student entering the MD program from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Services Commission will receive applications, select finalists, and choose the award recipient.


Scholarships for Canadian MD Students
This scholarship is designed to support students from Canada with significantly unfavorable currency exchange rates relative to the U.S. dollar. U.S. dual citizens are not eligible for the CAEAS. This scholarship also recognizes students who have demonstrated strong academic preparation for medical school. This scholarship is available for new MD1 students starting May 2026 or later.
Scholarship Amounts:
- $2,300 per term (for up to 10 terms)
Eligibility & Conditions: Eligibility requires a minimum grade of P in each term. Remediation courses or terms are not eligible for scholarship funding. However, students who remediate and return to satisfactory academic standing will have the scholarship reinstated for subsequent terms.

Premed Pathway Students: All students matriculating into the MD program from our Premedical program who hold Canadian citizenship will be automatically considered for the CAEAS, provided they meet eligibility criteria.

Medical School Grants
Award will reduce tuition by $1,000 - $1,500 per term for up to ten terms.
Selected by the Office of Admissions and awarded to qualified applicants who have demonstrated leadership in community service at home or abroad.
Award will reduce tuition by $1,000 - $1,500 per term for up to ten terms.
Selected by the Office of Admissions and awarded to qualified applicants who have a prior background in a health care profession (nurse, EMT, paramedic, physician assistant, or scribe).
Award will reduce tuition by $2,500 per term for up to ten terms.
Applicants are nominated by the Office of Admissions and selected by the Office of Student Services. This grant is awarded to select qualified U.S. and Canadian service members who have served their country in the military. Recipients must provide official documentation demonstrating proof of service.

Eligibility based on citizenship of a CARICOM nation. Applicable to the MD program only.
A grant of $2,500 per term for the ten-term MD program will be awarded to students who have proof of citizenship of a CARICOM nation.
