Dr. Godfred A. Menezes is an accomplished microbiologist and educator with over 18 years of academic, clinical, and research experience across India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, and Mauritius. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Trinity Medical Sciences University, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and as Adjunct Professor at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India.
He holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from JIPMER, India, a Master’s degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Warwick, UK. His teaching interests focus on clinical and diagnostic microbiology, immunology, and medical education in the health sciences, and his research encompasses antimicrobial resistance, molecular biology and pathogen diagnostics, natural medicinal agents and wound healing, as well as global health, infectious disease epidemiology, and collaborative burden of disease studies.
Prior to joining Trinity, Dr. Menezes served as Professor and Chairperson of Medical Microbiology & Immunology at RAK College of Medical Sciences (RAKCOMS), RAKMHSU, and as a Clinical Microbiologist at RAK Hospital, UAE. He has been internationally recognized for his contributions to the field, serving as the UAE Country Ambassador for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), as a board member and Scientific Committee Chair of the Emirates Society of Clinical Microbiology (ESCM), and as an invited speaker at numerous international conferences.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Menezes has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and collaborates as a Senior Contributor with the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study and Caribbean collaborators. He also serves as an advisor and adjudicator for doctoral and postgraduate research projects worldwide. He is widely respected for his student-centered teaching philosophy, commitment to global health collaboration, and dedication to advancing the science and practice of medical microbiology through education, research, and public engagement.
