Trinity School of Medicine students and faculty were thrilled to welcome guest lecturer, Dr. David Lanning, surgeon-in-chief at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Dr. Lanning, a renowned Pediatric Surgeon, described in detail the marathon 20-hour procedure taken on by he and his team of 50 as they endeavored to separate 18 month old conjoined twins just over a year ago. The twins, Maria and Teresa from the Dominican Republic, had been born sharing a digestive system and liver. The girls were able to undergo the life changing surgery through the philanthropy of Richmond-based World Pediatric Project.
