Trinity School of Medicine Holds 2017 Research Day

English physicist Paul A.M. Dirac's declared that, “The measure of greatness in a scientific idea is the extent to which it stimulates thought and opens up new lines of research.” In that spirit, last week Trinity School of Medicine held its annual research day on campus in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The event featured topics from faculty and students alike with an enthusiastically received presentation by noted forensic anthropologist Dr. Anthony Falsetti as plenary speaker.

Trinity School of Medicine Alumni Spotlight: Devon Charlton, MD, MPH

Trinity School of Medicine has always prided itself on the strength and ambition of its students. So many future physicians come our way looking for something new; whether that's a unique learning environment built on support and a strong relationship with the faculty, a curriculum with an emphasis on clinical skills and service to patients, or just a true opportunity to live up to their potential.

In this next special edition of our alumni spotlight, meet Devon Charlton, MD, MPH. He's a member of our inaugural class, and, as such, has a great perspective on Trinity's own past, as well as insight for future students. Most recently, he has completed his residency and wrapped up his rheumatology fellowship and tenure as chief fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Later this month, he'll be speaking at the annual American College of Rheumatology Conference.

Trinity School of Medicine Student and Alum Research Update

Trinity School of Medicine students are a very proactive bunch. While this blog typically covers their humanitarian and clinical work, we wanted to give a quick research update.

Today, we'll cover four of our current students who recently presented at the 33rd annual meeting of the Academy of Surgical Research.

After that, we'll fill you in on our alum Dr. Chris Saling, as he continues his streak of finding complex cases and turning them into a learning experience for himself and the medical community at large. His last visit to the Infectious Disease Society of America IDweek lead to a new delivery method for HIV medication. Read on to find out what he, and the students are up to in this research update.
