GPA for Caribbean Medical Schools

Curious what GPA score you need to get into a Caribbean medical school?

At Trinity School of Medicine, we regard a prospective student's MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) score and GPA as good indicators of potential success in the Degree of Medicine program.

As such, these numbers are heavily weighted in the application review process with additional consideration given to course work, degree earned, major area of study, and work or volunteer experience in the field of medicine.

Finally, qualitative measures—such as your passion for medicine, future goals and letters of recommendation—are considered by the admissions committee with regard to your overall candidacy for enrollment.

Your application will be carefully considered based on your academic records and performance, MCAT scores, extracurricular activities, leadership positions and experiences in a hospital or medical setting.

About Trinity School of Medicine

Trinity School of Medicine is an international medical school offering the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree whose curriculum follows the U.S. medical education model. Located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinity is helping to address the profound shortage of medical doctors by creating more opportunities for students to obtain a quality medical education.

In the United States alone, more than 42,000 students apply for just 18,000 available med school seats each year. To respond to this demand, a group of concerned educational and business leaders joined together to establish a unique medical training institution. The result of their efforts is Trinity School of Medicine.

Why Choose a Caribbean Medical School?

Students at Trinity School of Medicine enjoy a number of advantages over U.S. and Canadian medical schools:

Our Hospital Partner

Through our partnership with Milton Cato Memorial, a 220-bed hospital located in downtown Kingston, St. Vincent, clinical experiences are integrated into each of the first five terms and include weekly hospital-based patient care experiences for students beginning in the first term. This part of the curriculum is taught by community physicians who have faculty appointments at Trinity School of Medicine and over 30 years of experience working with and training medical students in clinical medicine. The University of the West Indies also has approved the Hospital for full internships, clerkships in medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and electives in other qualifying disciplines.

Accreditation

As a student at Trinity School of Medicine, you are eligible to register and sit for the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) Step1 and Step 2, the standard exams required of all U.S. and Canadian medical students.

After passing Step 1 and Step 2 of the USMLE and completing the educational requirements for the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, students are eligible for certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). With this certification in place, students are able to proceed to Step 3 of the USMLE for licensing and to participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

Trinity School of Medicine is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Trinity's accreditation is also approved by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education & Research (FAIMER), and is listed in its International Medical Education Directory (IMED).
